The development of FPV (First-Person Perspective) technology can be traced back to the late 20th century. In 1997, Dave Upton of Oregon, USA, created the first FPV system, INCAB-RC, and was also the first person in the world to suggest using goggles to enhance the flight experience. In 2007, Fat Shark, an FPV goggle manufacturer headquartered in Shenzhen, China, produced the world's first modern FPV drone goggles.

As an emerging sport, FPV's modern prototype emerged around 2014 when developers in California, USA, mounted cameras on small aircraft, creating a prototype. That same year, a European team released a video of a drone flying through a forest, attracting attention. In 2011, the first FPV drone racing competition was held in Germany. In 2016, Dubai hosted the largest FPV competition to date, the million-dollar Dragon Ridge Race, and FPV technology rapidly spread to China from there.

Following this, FPV (Fast-Pass) racing developed rapidly in China. In 2017, X-FLY launched this racing sport in China. In 2018, Beijing Mingxin Aviation Technology Co., Ltd. officially introduced the DCL (Drone Club Club) Drone Championship Alliance to China and named it the "China Drone Open - DCL International Invitational Tournament." At the end of the same year, the first World Drone Championship was held in Shenzhen. At the end of 2019, the international professional drone racing circuit organization DRL (Drone Club Club) held a press conference in Shanghai and announced its first signed Chinese professional pilot, Lai Jinghao. Between 2018 and 2019, the domestic FPV racing industry experienced its first boom, with a large number of FPV enthusiasts posting videos on Bilibili, China's largest youth culture community, and a continuous emergence of FPV UP (content creators) specializing in drone racing.
