Extreme Long-Range Control
915MHz is one of the longest-range frequency bands in the ExpressLRS ecosystem. Compared to the mainstream 2.4GHz band, 915MHz operates at a lower frequency with a longer wavelength, resulting in less signal attenuation over distance and superior diffraction capability. Using LoRa spread-spectrum technology (CSS), signal coverage can reach approximately 5000 meters or more in open environments. With high-gain antennas, stable control can be achieved at distances exceeding 10 kilometers. This is the ideal choice for long-range fixed-wing aircraft and distance-crossing flights.

Applications & Competitive Advantages
The ExpressLRS 915MHz MINI Receiver, with its 915MHz band's superior penetration and long-range control capability (effectively penetrating through forests, buildings, and terrain undulations), adjustable refresh rates up to 500Hz (with end-to-end latency reduced to microsecond levels), and ultra-lightweight design of just 0.9 grams, is purpose-built for long-range FPV flights, micro drones, and complex-terrain operations. It is ideally deployed in long-range fixed-wing aircraft and distance-crossing quads – beyond-visual-line-of-sight flights across mountains, deserts, and oceans; micro drones and Whoop-class aircraft – space-constrained small frames with strict weight and size requirements; industrial remote inspections – aerial patrols of power lines, oil and gas pipelines, bridges, and infrastructure in obstructed environments such as forests and urban canyons; and emergency rescue and security patrols – critical missions including mountain search and rescue, forest fire prevention, and border surveillance that demand robust control links with strong penetration.

European・Максим"We deployed 915MHz ELRS receivers on our power line and pipeline inspection drones. In mountainous and hilly terrain, the 915MHz band's penetration far exceeds 2.4GHz systems – even when the aircraft flies over ridge lines or is blocked by trees, the control link remains solid.""In forest environments, 2.4GHz signals would certainly be lost, but 915MHz powers through even in a 'worst case scenario' – with a Mini T antenna mounted under the motor at 200Hz.""For long-range builds where you need penetration, ELRS 868/915MHz variants match Crossfire's range at a fraction of the power."
-
UAE・Abdullah"We operate UAV patrol missions in dense urban high-rise areas. The 915MHz band's natural resistance to multipath interference far exceeds 2.4GHz systems – signals can bend around buildings and penetrate foliage.""When flying in downtown areas with high-rise structures, the key to stability lies in proper antenna placement and frequency hopping configuration.""The 915MHz band offers longer wavelengths that diffract better around obstacles, making it ideal for urban canyons and wooded areas."
-
Germany・Paul"Our product line includes a large number of 3-inch and 4-inch micro drones with extremely limited space. This 915MHz receiver's compact size allows it to easily fit into 4-inch and even 3-inch frames.""Despite being installed on space-constrained frames, RSSI remains as high as -81dBm at 2km out on 100mW power.""For micro rigs that demand long range, this is one of the most compact high-performance receiver solutions available."
-
USA・Oliver"In forest search and rescue and border patrol missions, signal obstruction is our biggest challenge. The 915MHz low-frequency signal effectively penetrates tree canopies and terrain undulations.""Even with a Mini T antenna – which has only quarter the range of a full T antenna – at a poor position and 200Hz, 915MHz still powers through.""Diversity receivers deliver much better and more consistent signal performance.""We have purchased these receivers in bulk for fleet upgrades, and the failsafe rate has dropped significantly."
-
Saudi Arabia・Abdullah"During a forest penetration test, we ran 100mW power at 200Hz with a Mini T antenna mounted on the arm directly under the motor – the worst possible antenna placement. The pilot stood at the starting point while the quad flew about 200 meters down a sandy path surrounded by trees, with at least 10 to 20 trees blocking the signal. Even so, 915MHz powered through the first section of trees. Signal dropped to -96dBm halfway through the second tree section, but we never lost the link. With 2.4GHz, with this many trees you would lose the signal for sure.

FAQ
How do I enter binding mode?
Use the 3× power-cycle method:
1.Power on the receiver then immediately power off
2.Power on again then immediately power off
3.Power on a third time and leave it on
Each power cycle interval must be less than 1.5 seconds. When performed correctly, the receiver's LED will flash twice quickly in a repeating pattern, indicating it has entered binding mode. Then execute the Bind command via the ELRS LUA script on your transmitter. Once binding is successful, the receiver's LED will turn solid.
How do I update firmware via Wi-Fi?
Power on the receiver – if it does not connect to a transmitter within approximately 60 seconds, it will automatically enter Wi-Fi hotspot mode. The Wi-Fi hotspot name is ExpressLRS RX with password expresslrs. After connecting, open http://10.0.0.1/ in your browser, select the firmware file, and click Update. The entire process takes about 1-2 minutes.
What if the receiver won't bind?
Follow these steps:
1.Check frequency match: The transmitter module and receiver must operate on the same frequency band. 868MHz EU and 915MHz FCC are not compatible.
2.Check firmware version compatibility: The transmitter module and receiver must be on the same major firmware version (e.g., V3.x is incompatible with V2.x).
3.Check Binding Phrase match: If the receiver was flashed with a binding phrase, the transmitter must use the exact same phrase (case-sensitive).
4.Check if the receiver is stuck in Bootloader mode: If the LED is solid but won't bind, the flight controller's UART may be forcing the receiver into bootloader mode upon power-up. Try switching to a different TX/RX UART port on the flight controller.
How should the antenna be installed?
The two elements of the T-type antenna should be positioned at a 90-degree angle to each other. The antenna should be kept away from carbon fiber plates, motors, ESCs, and high-current wires that may shield or interfere with the signal. Do not mount the antenna flush against carbon fiber or metal components. The antenna connector is IPEX1 standard.
What is the maximum control range?
